Our Perspective
Growing up in New Orleans wasn’t easy. Like other cities, violence came from various schools, wards, and neighboring streets. Gang activity wasn't a thing down here. Every ward had a concrete jungle nearby, some call it "the projects." Wards seemed like a flower in this crescent city. The nicer houses on the outer pedals. The historic housing districts mixed in with small commercial property. As the you move further inland, there's your homeowners who made it out the center, but still protect those in the center. The center... Well, the center was usually where all the shit happens. We're talking about that sweet spot of culture marinating in its own juices. A lot of Young N’awlinians reside there, looking for a way out in a city where it sometimes seems impossible. No matter how hard is for us, we rise above it... This ain't the Big Easy like they say, but it's home!
